Is all this awareness and advertising for more Cyber Security educating or miseducating us.
How many times have you opened your browser, just to find out some disturbing information on how the Cyber Security of this and that have been breached.
How many times have you opened you email just to find out that there are new breaches into your favorite digital product, that can be used by malicious hackers.
I have experienced this dejavu a lot of times and it has really become an everyday routine, up to the point that I’m starting to lose focus on the importance of Cyber Security.
Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate and practice a lot playing it safe online, as well as trying to keep the disclosed data to minimum, but I can imagine a lot of people who don’t. I don’t blame or underestimate them but instead I understand them.
All this fuzz and pushing and blaming and trying to make everybody look powerless, maybe is not the right way to do it.
I can assure you that Cyber Security is not cheap, it can come with a hefty price tag, but we should never bypass it when building products. It might slow us down on the product delivery phase but it will help in the long run, it will help our brand and it will help our pockets.
You can find yourself from time to time fighting against very aggressive business drivers, but don’t give up, your time will come.
You will find out many times that you are fighting the windmills, but don’t despair, we have all been in the same situation.
As a Cyber Security aficionado and professional, all I can say is try to educate your people by giving them valuable content and materials and not just throwing them everything as this will just give the opposite effect.
